Primal Gems

Primal Gems is a collection of illustrations representing prime numbers by iba1031. In our team, we have mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of knowledge in mathematical fields. Through our studies, we have developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the beauty of mathematics. We want to share this beauty and convey the creative and artistic process of mathematics. So we asked ourselves, how can we allow the general populous, who may not have a rigorous mathematical background, to feel just as moved by the artfulness of mathematics as we are. The answer seemed natural; through digital, mathematical art.

Primal Gems is a unique collection of digital artwork created using a custom algorithm in Python. Each piece in the collection is based on a prime number, starting from the 5th prime number, 11. The algorithm draws a line and rotates the angle in which it draws the line based on a proprietary algorithm, with all lines drawn at a fixed length. This process is repeated until the algorithm is finished, with the length of the process determined by the prime number that is inputted. The result is a series of beautiful and intricate designs that showcase the uniqueness of each prime number. The collection is a tribute to number theory, and an exploration of the endless possibilities that can be created through code. Primal Gems is not just a collection of digital art, but a celebration of the beauty of mathematics and the power of technology to create stunning visuals.
